Ingredient Deep Dive:
🌿 Ginseng: this antioxidant powerhouse is revered in traditional Chinese medicine for its ability to revive tired skin and its anti-aging properties.
🌿 Sake: Sake is incredible for evening skin tone and diminishing the appearance of scars, as well as to make skin appear younger and fresher.
🌿 Turmeric: a traditional ingredient used across Asia to speed scar healing, to even skin tone and brighten skin.
🌿 Camellia Japonica: also known as Tsubaki, this beautiful flower and plant is rich in vitamins A, B, D, E, and Omega 3, 6 and 9 and is many a Japanese woman’s skin secret.
🌿Goji Berries are antioxidant rich and helps rejuvenate sun damaged skin
🌿 Mushroom extract mix: mushrooms are anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and have anti-aging effects
🌿Bamboo and fermented Bamboo: provides deep hydration and helps with hyperpigmentation.
Asian Powerhouse Serum functions like a K-Beauty "essence" to be applied right after cleansing, and before heavier layers like the Marine Serum and facial oils. Pairs extremely well with Marine Serum (which will go on after you apply Asian Powerhouse).

This serum has become part of my daily routine. Even when I skip other steps, I always use the Asian Powerhouse serum. It goes on so light, I didnt think it was doing anything at first. But I'm about to turn 48 and look how firm and wrinkle free my skin remains. Yes, a lot of it is genetics (Asian don't raisin 😅) but I was starting to notice fine lines last year and now those are gone!

I bought this product as recommended to counter my redness near my chin and nose area. While it didn’t complete remove the redness, it definitely toned it down. I love the scent of the ginseng and it’s nice and gentle on the skin. I find that it works well when paired with Marine serum, but if you go this route be sure apply Asian powerhouse first since marine is a little stronger. Photo shows the reduce redness after using just toner, Asian power house, and moisturizer in the morning.

My first review of the APH was kind of meh because I didn't think it did anything, and so I let the sample/travel size run out. Then I noticed after a couple of weeks that I didn't wake up with soft smooth skin and after some trial and error, I concluded the only thing different was the APH. I also noticed that other serums and moisturizers weren't absorbed as fully or it didn't dry down as matte/less oily as when I applied the APH as first serum. I was also trying out other SB products during this time which was why I didn't notice the difference right away. As soon as I reordered and resumed using APH, I feel like my skin is happy again. I may not be able to see results just yet but I can definitely feel them!
this is a GREAT serum. one of my first SB products and a permanent staple in my routine. Lightweight for multi layered winters and minimal routine summers.
This is one of the first products I ever got from here -- I originally got a sampler/"travel size" of it (as seen in the photo) and ended up getting the full size. I've been using a couple drops of this once a night and it's still going strong! Overall, it feels super lightweight and absorbs easily. Over time, my hyperpigmented areas seem to be improving and my skin does feel more moisturized afterward.
My expectations were raised after I read the review that healed a user’s acne. This serum stings every time I use it. I’m guessing I’ll need more time to see an improvement although I’m not sure I’ll be able to tell anyway… I think I’ve not been picking the right products and/or distracted by stellar reviews of products that are not relevant to my needs. 🤷🏻♀️ Otherwise the serum spreads easily enough and absorbs really quickly.
This is one of the few products I've first used from SB. I have first got it from the rescue set kit.. I think this serum together with Marine has work to help with my cystic acne scarring. My scarring has very much improved after the rescue set and I felt APH played a huge role in that. This is a repurchase after my sample size runs out.

I found myself getting cortisone injections in my face multiple times a month and tried dozens of topical treatments for 10 years. Years of popping pimples and burning acne off with chemicals left my skin with a lot of scarring and discoloration. Eventually I stumbled upon Sabbatical Beauty, and now I will never use another skin care line again! In just a few months my skin has absolutely transformed. No more cystic acne. No more scarring. No more dryness. No more irritated bumps. No more make-up! And feeling more beautiful than ever. I have never been the kind of person to feel confident without at least a layer of powder, but now I simply don't need it. Although I love all SB products I've tried, I genuinely believe that this serum is the main contributor. It heals my acne, scarring, and discoloration, and it leaves my skin feeling radiant every time. Look at me, I'm glowing! The results you see here are a result of this serum paired with the aloe and oat cleanser. I also use the camel milk and yeast mask for spot treating when needed (which is no longer very often). I have never felt inclined to leave reviews on anything until I found Sabbatical Beauty.
I like this product because it's super lightweight, and it feels super refreshing.
With the onset of Corona I've been forced to work from home which is a bummer but it has given me a chance to have a skincare renaissance. I bought AP a while ago but I got lazy about my daily routine and wasn't using it regularly. Mistake. This stuff gives me the perfect dewy skin either alone or under a full moisturizer. It's evened out my skin tone and made my face brighter. I used up my travel size and already picked up the Full size which I rarely do for SB products - not because they aren't amazing, but more due to the fact that I want to try a little of everything before I really take the plunge. Definitely recommend this mighty little first serum.
This is a great first serum. I layer it under heavier serums such as Hydra or Lift. Recommended.
This serum, I think, is a bit underrated. I use it as a first layer and it sinks into my skin so quickly and perfectly it seems to vaporize. I wondered if it was doing any good at all...and then I ran out of my trial size. Suddenly, my other serums didn't absorb as quickly or as well. My face felt a bit sticky after my final serum and even after my moisturizing layer. APH is an unassuming serum in appearance but it really does pack a punch for my extremely dry, EXTREMELY sensitive skin. My picky skin LOVES it.
I've been using the Asian Powerhouse Serum as my twice-daily booster ~ the first thing I apply after cleansing, as a basis for other serums. I can feel it soften my skin immediately upon application, and it helps the other serums absorb well. A must-have for your SB routine!
I have always thought of serums as being thick and sticky or oily. This helps keep my skin soft.
When I ordered the Asian Powerhouse Serum about 1.5 months ago, there seemed to be a little film or residue in the bottle. It still seemed ok to use, but it's gotten worse over time. I keep SB products in the fridge so not sure why it's getting gloopier. Has anyone else noticed this? I emailed SB a few times over the past several weeks but never got a reply.

I ordered APH 3x as part of the Shine Like a Diamond set and it was the first full size product I splurged on because it's a staple of my routine. It's moisturizing, spreads so nicely (I am heavy handed with it) and is the perfect first layer for the rest of the serums.
